ODD2014 IN DAR ES SALAAM!
Did you konw that ODD2014 took place in Dar on 22nd February 2014? Despite having short time for preparation yet the event was very successful! Acknowledgement for the success goes to the OKFNTZ, TWAWEZA, TANZICT, and CREATIVE COMMONS TANZANIA for putting together their comparative advantage to make the event a success. Our open knowledge enthusiasts got busy with discussion on Open Knowledge Community Building, visualized population census, and presented on two open data projects supported by Twaweza. Visualization of health facilities in Tanzania presented by Mr. Jumanne Mtambalike from TANZICT (see Afya Map Project) opened our eyes to appreciate the power of open data. This was followed by a presentation cum data visualization by Mr. Al Amin from Twaweza on the Voices of Citizen Project (Sauti za Wananchi) and Shule.infohttp://www.shule.info/ project. Both projects are open data driven and aims at empowering both citizens and policy makers through easing access to information/data.
